DBLP is great. We've written a simple Python wrapper to make exploring the API even easier. »

Searching DBLP in Python is now as simple as

>>> import dblp
>>> dblp.search('Michael Ley')

Check out the project on GitHub for further examples, and let us know what you think!

We’re excited to announce our integration with DuckDuckGo, our favorite Google alternative. DDG users can now search for the name of an author, and if that author is on Scholrly, be presented with an instant answer summarizing the author’s work and interests.
Give it a try. Search for "lise getoor" or "james rehg" to learn more about these researchers focused on entity resolution and machine learning. If you know you want a Scholrly result, add “scholrly” or “sch” to your query, like "sch thad starner", and Scholrly instant answers will be preferred over others.
Let us know what you think of the integration, and happy searching!

Matt spent the weekend in Austin to give a talk at DataDayTexas on how we use graph databases @ Scholrly.
The team has been very heads-down so far with our technology- presenting to other data geeks was a welcome change. Instead of introducing graph databases, Matt focused on how graph technology can empower search and bibliometrics.
Check out his slides, or visit his blog for his presentation notes and thoughts on the event.

Why do a PhD in Computer Science? »

Thinking about getting a PhD in computer science? Svilen writes about which common academic motivations survive grad school.

"I do it because it allows me to take a broader view" One of the main properties of research is its scope — problems that are longer-term and higher-risk than what industry tries to solve. If the rewards for solving a problem are immediately clear, chances are industry will solve it faster and better. But in academia we very often get to see the forest, roughly approximating the trees.

In our quest to tell you more about your favorite researchers, we’ve added top keywords to author profiles. If you need a quick idea of a researcher’s interests, we’ve got your back. We plan to include this information in search results, as well- let us know what you think!
